THÈMES DE RECHERCHE
Je m’intéresse au fonctionnement des sols forestiers, principalement la dynamique du carbone, dans un contexte d’aménagement forestier, de changements climatiques et d’affectation des terres. Je travaille sur le carbone forestier depuis maintenant 17 ans. Je mène également des travaux pour mieux comprendre les enjeux environnementaux liés à la récolte de biomasse forestière et son utilisation sous forme d’énergie. La science que je développe combine des approches multiples et complémentaires telles que des dispositifs-terrains en milieu naturel, des analyses de laboratoire avancées, des expériences en environnement contrôlé ainsi que de la modélisation afin de fournir des réponses à des questions écologiques et politiques pertinentes à différentes échelles.
Je suis co-responsable du laboratoire de chimie des sols du RNCan-CFL qui possède plusieurs instruments analytiques modernes pour l’analyse des sols et de la végétation.
