Statement on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for the Centre d’étude de la forêt
The Centre d’étude de la forêt (CEF) is committed to promoting and fostering a culture of inclusivity and equity in all of its activities. Participation of all people, of any background or identity, is encouraged and welcomed, and discrimination against people for any reason will not be tolerated. The CEF strives to identify and actively counter barriers to participation, inclusion, and advancement in science experienced by any member. Barriers can be systemic, structural, actual, potential, explicit, or implicit. A constant effort is required to ensure that voices from underrepresented communities are included, heard, and welcomed in all activities and discussions. We aim to achieve diversity throughout the CEF, while not creating a disproportionate burden of work for people from underrepresented groups. Core principles are that all people deserve to be treated with respect, dignity, and kindness, and that everyone has a role to play in promoting and encouraging equity, diversity, and inclusion.
