My research interests are at the intersection of ecology, remote sensing and GIS,and environmental sciences. More specifically, I use a combination of field measurements, models and remote sensing and GIS technologies to answer questions like: how do terrestrial ecosystems respond to changes in environmental and climate conditions (due to natural or anthropogenic factors) over time and space? And how do changes in terrestrial ecosystem structure and function affect the natural and human environments? My main goal as a scientist is to contribute to the understanding of the interactions between terrestrial ecosystems and environmental variables, with a major focus on extreme weather events and climate change, and anthropogenic drivers of ecosystem change (e.g. deforestation, mining, agriculture).
