Résumé

Mycorrhizal resistant pea mutants (Myc(-)) and peas forming the AM symbiosis (Myc(+)) were grafted and inoculated with the AM fungus Glomus mosseae. As in pea mutants after appressoria formation no further colonization occurred, two colonization parameters were quantified: i) the percentage of root colonization (roots with internal hyphae, arbuscules and vesicles); ii) the percentage of roots with appressoria. In rootstocks of Myc(+) peas neither the degree of colonization nor the percentage of roots with appressoria were affected, independently of the grafted shoot (Myc(-) or Myc(+)). Rootstocks of pea Myc(-) mutants grafted with Myc(+) shoots and inoculated with the AM fungus showed the same incompatibility characteristics as selfgrafted (Myc(-) shoot) and ungrafted plants. Neither appressoria formation was affected nor colonization was observed in any of the treatments in the pea Myc(-) rootstock. The results indicate that the root exclusively determines the incompatibility of the pea Myc(-)/AM fungus interaction.
