Thèse de doctorat, Université Laval.
Résumé
Clearcutting forested wetlands resulted in a groundwater table rise more important on wet mineral soils than on organic soils. Conifer natural regeneration was abundant three years after cutting but jeopardised by the important hardwood competition. Drainage has lowered the water table on a distance of 60 m and has increased height growth of planted seedlings and advanced growth up to 5 and 10 m of the ditch respectively two years after drainage. Seedlings planted on hummocks had a significantly greater survival and growth rate compared to seedlings in hollows. The seedling root zone on hummocks was less saturated, better aerated and warmer than in the hollows. On the short term, planting microsite had a greater impact on seedling on seedling growth than drainage.
